Love someone
and want to leave.
Counselling & Psychotherapy with Ksenia Gorenstein
More than one thing can be true.
You can love someone and want to leave. Feel grateful for your life and know that something is missing. Understand where a pattern comes from and still find yourself repeating it. Want things to change and feel frightened by what change might ask of you.

01 · Therapy
You do not have to make it sound reasonable first.
We often try to settle these contradictions by deciding which feeling is the reasonable one. Which version of ourselves is the real one. Which part should be listened to, and which part needs to get over it.
Therapy can offer another way of meeting what is happening. We can become curious about the different aspects of you, what they have been protecting, and what may have been pushed aside along the way. Not everything needs to be resolved immediately. Sometimes it first needs to be heard.
You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation.

02 · My approach
A psychology that makes room for the whole person.
I work with psychosynthesis, a relational and integrative approach that considers the whole of you: thoughts, feelings, body, history, relationships, imagination and the search for meaning.
Rather than treating difficult aspects of you as problems to eliminate, we can become curious about how they developed and what they may still be trying to do for you. The work can include talking, attending to the body, imagery or creative exploration. It is always led by what feels useful and appropriate for you.
Psychosynthesis also holds that we are more than what has hurt us. Therapy can make room not only for pain and survival, but for choice, connection, humour, purpose and the parts of life that want to become more fully lived.
03 · About Ksenia
Warm, direct and comfortable with complexity.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years working across film, music, live events and the wider entertainment industry. I understand demanding creative environments from the inside: the energy, intensity and uncertainty, and the pressure to keep delivering when things feel rather less composed underneath.
My own life has also been shaped by migration and by belonging to more than one culture. I understand that identity is rarely simple: we may carry different languages, histories, loyalties and versions of home, and find that who we are shifts depending on where we are and who we are with.
Alongside my therapeutic practice, I work at WONDER Foundation, an international charity supporting women and girls through education and mentoring. This work keeps me connected to questions of identity, opportunity and belonging, and to the wider circumstances that shape what becomes possible in a person’s life.
